Maire Tecnimont's subsidiary Tecnimont has won a contract worth approximately 430 million euros from Repsol for the construction of two advanced polymer plants in the Sines Industrial Park in Portugal.

The contract for the construction of the polypropylene plant and the linear polyethylene plant was awarded on a one-time turnkey basis for Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC). This is also part of Repsol's plan to expand its Sines industrial park in Portugal. The scope of work under the contract includes complete engineering services, installation and construction activities, equipment and material supply for the two polymer plants. Maire Tecnimont said the contract also includes commissioning and start-up options for the unit. Work on this project is expected to be completed in 2025.

The new polypropylene and linear polyethylene plants will each have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of polymer materials. The polymer materials produced will be 100% recyclable and will be used in the pharmaceutical, food and automotive industries. The company also pointed out that the expansion of the Sines Industrial Complex is Repsol's largest industrial investment in Portugal in the past 10 years.
