Recently, Anqing Petrochemical's 3 million tons/year heavy oil catalytic cracking unit held a groundbreaking ceremony at the project site, which marked the official start of the main construction of the Anqing Petrochemical's refining and conversion project structure adjustment project.

It is reported that the total investment of the project has reached 6.418 billion yuan, which is a demonstration project for Sinopec's "ten dragons" technology research and the transformation and development of medium-scale oil refining enterprises. This set of 3 million tons of catalytic cracking unit is the core device.

The transformation and upgrading is for better development. Anqing Petrochemical's transformation project is to realize the transformation of traditional fuel-based refineries to chemical-based co-production, to reduce the output of refined oil to the greatest extent, and to increase the output of low-carbon olefins and aromatics. The project has effectively reduced the emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. After completion, the project will realize the efficient conversion of heavy oil to low-carbon and aromatic hydrocarbons, which is more environmentally friendly and is conducive to improving the local environmental protection level.

It is understood that this project of Anqing Petrochemical has also been listed as a key dispatch project by Anqing City, which can effectively reduce the excess capacity of oil refining, increase the supply of chemical raw materials for downstream industries, promote the development of related enterprises in the upstream and downstream industrial chain, and drive the development of the petrochemical industry.
