The ACME Group based Gurugram solar power developer said on August 23, 2021 that it has signed a land reservation agreement to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia plant in a special economic zone at the port of Duqm in Oman.
It added that the plant will be an integrated facility that uses 3 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy and 0.5 gigawatts of wind energy to produce 2,400 TPD of green ammonia, with an annual output of approximately 900,000 tons. According to the company's press release, this will be the first facility of this size to be put into operation by 2022. It is under construction with an investment of approximately US$3.5 billion to export green ammonia to demand centers in Europe and Asia.
The signing of the agreement will enable us to start pre-construction activities. Manoj K Upadhyay, founder and chairman of ACME Group, said: “We plan to start construction as soon as the first green hydrogen and green ammonia plant in Bikaner, India.” He added that the Oman plant will be developed in phases. The land agreement was signed with the Omani government authorities Special Economic Zone and Free Zone Public Administration.
