Changqing Oilfield is China's largest natural gas production and processing base. On September 13, 2021, the Sulige Gas Field Development Branch, located in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, announced that China’s largest self-contained gas field with annual natural gas production—Changqing Oilfield Sulige Gas Field has accumulated a total of 20 years of development and construction. The output reached 260 billion cubic meters.

According to official sources, the Sulige Gas Field under China’s Changqing Oilfield serves as the main source of gas to ensure natural gas demand in the Beijing-Tianjin area and cities around Inner Mongolia. Currently, its pipeline network has covered more than 40 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, and Xi’an, benefiting more than 40 cities. 250 million, contributed to the maximization and most effective use of clean energy, promoted the sustainable development of cities, and effectively improved urban air quality.

According to Yang Zhilun, manager of the Sulige Gas Field Development Branch of Changqing Oilfield, China, in recent years, the Sulige Gas Field has developed “geophysics, geology and gas reservoir engineering, drilling and completion technology, pressure 30 main development technologies in 6 categories, such as cracking transformation process, collection and transportation process, and digital management and control, have promoted the development of large-scale benefits of tight gas.

Yang Zhilun said that as of now, the Sulige Gas Field has managed 16,887 gas wells, 155 gas gathering stations, 33 metering transfer stations, 166 gas gathering and transportation branch lines of 3,200 kilometers, and 6 natural gas processing plants have been built. With a processing capacity of 28 billion cubic meters, the role of the Sulige Gas Field as a peak shaving hub is prominent. It is estimated that by December 31, the natural gas production of the Sulige Gas Field in 2021 will reach 27.6 billion cubic meters.
