On September 28, 2021, the "China-Bangladesh Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum" was held online, with more than 100 government officials and business people from the two countries participating. The forum is of practical significance for enhancing communication and understanding between the business communities of China and Bangladesh, deepening practical cooperation between Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises, and promoting the development of China-Bangladesh economy and trade.

At present, the businesses involved by Chinese companies in Bangladesh mainly include trade, investment, and engineering contracting. China has become Bangladesh's largest trading partner, and Bangladesh is China's third largest trading partner and third largest engineering contracting market in South Asia. Li Jiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, said that in the context of the new crown epidemic, bilateral trade and investment have achieved growth against the trend. From January to July 2021, the total import and export volume of China and Bangladesh was US$13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 58.9%; engineering contracting The turnover was US$3.18 billion, a year-on-year increase of 59.5%; China’s investment in Bangladesh was US$418 million, a year-on-year increase of 199.8%.

Li Jiming stated that Bangladesh is an important participant in China's Belt and Road Initiative and one of the first countries to respond to China's Belt and Road Initiative. It is also one of the countries with the largest cooperation efforts and the most fruitful results under the framework of China's Belt and Road Initiative. . At present, both China and Bangladesh are at a critical stage of revitalization and development. China attaches great importance to the establishment of economic and trade mechanisms with Bangladesh. Affected by the favorable policy of the official entry into force of the zero-tariff treatment of 97% of Bangladesh’s tariff items exported to China, Bangladesh’s exports to China will show a double-digit growth in 2021.
