The Dutch engineering spin-off company Hardt Hyperloop has been awarded 15 million euros by the European Commission. This is the first time that the European Union has directly funded the development of an ultra-fast transportation concept. This sum was paid by the European Innovation Council accelerator to help the Dutch engineer and his partners continue research and development.

Tim Houter, Hart's co-founder, said at a press conference that this decision is the most confident in his company in terms of technology. "I am very pleased to now have the trust of the European Commission. Their support will help accelerate the development of the European Hyperloop network and bring us closer to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide. European cities will be connected smarter, faster, and cheaper. ."

The funding will also promote the European Hyperloop Center in Groningen, which will showcase the lane switching of the high-speed Hyperloop system in 2023. Companies, governments and network organizations are studying pilot projects to transport goods between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Haut said that he hopes this route can be developed in the Netherlands within ten years. The EU is particularly interested in the Hyperloop because it complies with the European Green Agreement and the Commission’s sustainable and smart mobility strategy. According to Houter, a European-wide network can save 160 million tons of carbon per year, which would "exceed the total emissions of the Netherlands." Hyperloop pods move autonomously through low-pressure pipes, propelled by fluctuating magnetic fields provided by their floating "tracks". Hardt Hyperloop was founded in 2016 by engineers from Delft University of Technology. It participated in the construction of Europe's first high-speed test facility and developed a lane switching technology that is considered essential to network development. Its partners include Schiphol Airport, Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Deutsche Bahn, Koolen Industries, InnoEnergy, Freigeist, Bam, Tata Steel and IHC.Editor/Baohongying
