The logistics and services subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Corporation signed an agreement with AD Ports Group to develop a new port and related facilities at the Taziz Chemical Manufacturing Center in Ruwais. The two companies plan to select an international operator to form a joint venture and develop the port.
Taziz Port Infrastructure Project
The Taziz Center is prioritized for the manufacture and development of chemicals and other special products. International and local investors have been invited to participate in the project development of the site, which will include a chemical zone and a light industrial zone, and housing companies use chemicals produced in the area. Chief Operating Officer Captain Abdulkareem AlMasabi said: "The new port will consolidate the UAE's competitiveness as an international energy and industrial supply chain hub, and further position Taziz as the preferred partner for investment in the development of the UAE's advanced manufacturing base."
In November 2020, Adnoc and Abu Dhabi's holding company ADQ announced plans to jointly develop a $5 billion project in Ruwais Derivatives Park. Taziz will invest US$3 billion in chemical projects, while US$2 billion will be used to develop ports and infrastructure in Ruwais. The new port will have large berths and related infrastructure as well as loading and unloading facilities. The infrastructure will include 10 product tanks and a raw material storage tank. The Taziz Center will have three industrial areas for seven chemical projects and have the ability to convert them into consumer products and host service companies.
