The government of Bahrain has launched a new strategic project plan. It plans to invest US$30 billion in more than 20 new projects, including the construction of 5 new offshore cities.

The strategic project plans to develop infrastructure, including a new causeway linking Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain will also build a 109-kilometer subway system, or 22.5-kilometer North Road. Bahrain will increase its refining capacity from 267,000 barrels per day to 380,000 barrels per day through the Bapco Modernization Program (BMP), which is the largest industrial project in Bahrain’s history.
