On November 30, 2021, the construction of the main part of the Zhuhai Airport Comprehensive Transportation Hub project officially started, which means that the transportation function upgrade of the core area of Zhuhai Airport has been fully launched.

According to reports, the project is located in Jinwan District, Zhuhai City, with a total investment of about 8.049 billion yuan, covering an area of 214,000 square meters and a total construction area of 581,000 square meters. The first phase of the Zhuhai Airport integrated transportation hub project (first bid section), which is under construction this time, has a total construction area of approximately 161,800 square meters. The construction content mainly includes the transportation hub in front of the terminal building, supporting commercial service centers and related business buildings, subway reservations, rail and rail transit passenger luggage passages (civil construction), etc. After the completion of the project, it will orderly organize the flow of people, vehicles and goods between the current terminal building, the new terminal building and the transportation hub to form an airport transportation hub, improve the quality environment of the airport core area, and build the image of Zhuhai Airport as an international gateway.

It is reported that the Zhuhai Airport Comprehensive Transportation Hub project is a key construction project of Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and an important part of Zhuhai's construction of a national comprehensive transportation hub. With the implementation of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan Outline" and the promotion of the joint construction of a world-class airport cluster in the Greater Bay Area, the development and construction of the Zhuhai Airport core area has been fully promoted, and the comprehensive service functions of Zhuhai Airport will be greatly improved.
