The Russian government formulates the M12 highway project plan

On March 17, 2008, from the Russian Ministry of Construction, Russia announced a "Auto Road" plan with a total value of 412 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, the federal government invested 220 billion U.S. dollars, local governments invested 74 billion U.S. dollars, and the rest will be completed through the issuance of national construction bonds and financial market financing. In this plan, Russia plans to build a 2,000-km-long highway trunk road throughout the country, and to renovate the existing 37,000-km highway.

On December 16, 2021, Russia announced a large-scale transportation infrastructure development plan. The government has set a budget of US$1.78 billion for the construction of new road routes.
