On December 31, 2021, the Guangzhou North Railway Station China Travel Service Duty-Free Complex project officially started construction, which marked an important step and substantial progress for the first duty-free complex in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Duty-free complex located in Huadu
The Guangzhou North Railway Station CTS Duty-Free Complex Project covers a total area of about 90,000 square meters, with a total construction area of about 600,000 square meters. The total investment is estimated to be 13.6 billion yuan, including a duty-free mall, an outlet mall, an office tower, 2 commercial towers and some public supporting facilities, etc.
The project has a total capacity of approximately 380,000 square meters, of which the commercial part highlights the urban oasis concept as a design highlight. With the help of the scattered shapes of the building and the multi-level outdoor platform, the water system and vegetation are introduced to beautify the environment, gather the flow of people, and the overall appearance of the building. With a sense of future science and technology, it will create a new business card for business + tourism in northern Guangzhou that integrates tax-free, outsole, fashion, leisure, entertainment, tourism, and residence.
Huadu is not only the location of the only large-scale air-rail double hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but also a water (road) transportation system extending in all directions such as Huadu Port and highways. It is a bridge and link connecting the Greater Bay Area to the whole country and the world. Baiyun Airport is a large international aviation airport radiating the world, and Guangzhou North Railway Station is the gateway to Guangzhou from South China.
According to reports, the China Tourism Group, located in Huadu, will jointly build the Guangzhou North Railway Station China Travel Duty-Free Complex Project by its subsidiary China Travel Investment and China Freedom. It will explore the first TOD (public transportation-oriented project development) + comprehensive development of tax-free IP. The model, relying on the air-rail transportation hub, is aimed at the three major customer groups of Huadu's new middle class, the new generation of the city, and hub visitors. The main differentiation strategy is to create a destination-based, hub-based city landmark experience space that highlights the power of the scene. Editor/He Yuting
