As an important part of global economic development, Africa will also play an indispensable role in promoting energy transition in the future. According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia on January 16, on January 13, Ambassador Li Jie met with the Minister of Energy of Zambia, Peter Kapala, on January 13. The two sides exchanged views on practical cooperation in the energy field.

Ambassador Li said that sufficient and stable energy supply is crucial for Zambia to restore economic growth, improve people's living standards and realize national modernization. China is an ideal and reliable partner of Zambia in the energy field. In 2021, the first unit of the Xiakaifuxia Hydropower Station constructed by the Chinese side will be connected to the grid for power generation, which will greatly alleviate the local energy shortage.

Kapala spoke highly of the long-term friendly cooperation between China and Zambia, expressing his hope that China would support Zambia in advancing the Batoka Hydropower Station project, which was delayed due to financing problems, and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in the field of photovoltaic power generation in rural areas of Zambia.

Ambassador Li pointed out that Zambia has abundant reserves of clean energy such as hydropower, wind power and photovoltaics and has great potential for development. China is willing to take advantage of its technological experience in the development and utilization of clean energy to deepen relevant pragmatic cooperation with Zambia. Zambia can introduce more attractive industry policies to better promote external investment. Editor / Xu Shengpeng
