Recently, Well Shunbei 801X, a key exploration well deployed in the Tarim Basin by Sinopec Northwest Oilfield, has tested high-yield industrial oil and gas streams, with a daily output of 136.7 tons of crude oil and 1.093 million cubic meters of natural gas, equivalent to 1,007.6 tons of oil and gas. The breakthrough of this well further confirmed that the No. 8 fault zone in the Shunbei oil and gas field has great exploration potential, and a new 100-million-ton oil and gas area has been obtained in the Tarim Basin.
The Northwest Oilfield is located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert. The Shunbei No. 8 fault zone where the exploration well Shunbei 801X is located is 116 kilometers long. In 2021, the Shunbei 8X Well deployed in the fault zone of Northwest Oilfield will obtain high-yield oil and gas flow, with a daily output of over 1,000 tons of oil and gas equivalent, achieving a major breakthrough in oil and gas exploration in the fault zone. At the beginning of the new year, Well Shunbei 801X achieved another breakthrough in oil and gas resources.
Sinopec has a total of 18 fault zones in the Shunbei mining right area. The oil reservoirs are of special type and are characterized by ultra-deep, ultra-high pressure and ultra-high temperature, making exploration and development difficult. Since August 2016, Sinopec has innovatively formed the accumulation theory of Shunbei ultra-deep fault-controlled oil and gas reservoirs, and successively discovered two 100 million-ton oil and gas areas in the Shunbei No. 1 fault zone and No. 5 fault zone. As of January 2022, Sinopec Shunbei area has cumulatively produced 3.33 million tons of crude oil and 1.497 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The Tarim Basin is an important base for China to increase oil and gas reserves and production. Sinopec has successively discovered two billion-ton oil and gas fields in the Tarim Basin of Xinjiang, Tahe Oilfield and Shunbei Oil and Gas Field. Up to now, the Northwest Oilfield has a cumulative proven oil in place of 1.665 billion tons, natural gas geological reserves of 94.583 billion cubic meters, and a cumulative output of more than 140 million tons of oil and gas equivalent.
Wang Shijie, general manager of Sinopec Northwest Petroleum Bureau Co., Ltd., said that the Shunbei oil and gas field is located in the central and western parts of the Tarim Basin. It is one of the deepest buried oil and gas reservoirs in China, and it is difficult to explore and develop. Up to now, Sinopec Northwest Petroleum Bureau Co., Ltd. has a cumulative proven oil in place of 1.665 billion tons, natural gas geological reserves of 94.583 billion cubic meters, and a cumulative output of over 140 million tons of oil and gas equivalent, making it one of the top ten oilfields onshore in China.
