In early February 2022, the first batch of 20 CDA5B1 meter-gauge AC drive diesel locomotives "customized" by CRRC for Thailand held a delivery ceremony in Thailand.

Nero Maniphan, director of the State Railway of Thailand, and Siriphon, deputy director of the State Railway of Thailand, led many officials to attend the ceremony. Representatives of Thailand SFR Consortium and members of the delivery team of CRRC Qishuyan also attended the ceremony.

Director Nero said in his speech that the State Railway of Thailand (hereinafter referred to as Thai Railway) is vigorously developing Thailand's railway infrastructure and further improving the level of railway modernization. The 50 diesel locomotives purchased from CRRC Qishuyan this time have advanced technology, which will help the Thai Railway to transport passengers and goods more quickly and safely, and further improve the service efficiency of the Thai Railway.

In his speech, the delivery representative of CRRC Qishuyan Company thanked Thai Railway for its high trust and strong support to CRRC and CRRC Qishuyan Company, and briefly introduced the manufacturing and supervision process of this batch of locomotives. CRRC Qishuyan will definitely live up to its expectations and continue to do a good job in the production of the follow-up 30 locomotives. At the same time, it will work closely with the Thai Railway team to complete the on-site commissioning and after-sales service of the first batch of 20 locomotives with high quality to ensure that the locomotives are put into use as soon as possible.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director Siripon reviewed the entire process of the 50-unit locomotive project of the Thai Railway. The guests watched a short video produced by Thai Railway, which showed the design, production, testing, transportation, unloading and transshipment process of the CDA5B1 locomotive in detail. The delivery representative of CRRC Qishuyan Company presented the model of this locomotive to Thai Railway.

Director Nero also personally boarded the locomotive to learn more about the situation of the locomotive.

After the ceremony, Director Nero was interviewed by the local media and reiterated the significance of the locomotive procurement project.

On August 31, 2020, CRRC and the State Railway of Thailand officially signed a contract for 50 AC drive diesel locomotives. This project is the largest single vehicle order in the history of Thai Railways.

This type of locomotive is based on the SDA3 diesel locomotive exported by CRRC to Thailand in 2015. According to the needs of users, it fully considers the economy, environmental friendliness, maintainability and usability of the locomotive.
