February 19, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina. For half a century, China and Afghanistan have always understood and supported each other. China has become Argentina's second largest trading partner and largest export market for agricultural products. Argentine red shrimp, meat, soybeans, wine and other high-quality products are deeply loved by Chinese consumers. China's project contracting and cumulative investment in Argentina have exceeded 10 billion US dollars. A number of key projects such as the Belgrano Freight Railway Reconstruction Project, the Gaochari Photovoltaic Power Station, the "Kisse" Hydropower Station, and the Deep Space Exploration Station have fully demonstrated the pragmatism of China and Argentina. From February 4 to 6, 2022, Argentine President Fernandez attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics and visited China. President Xi Jinping held a cordial, friendly and fruitful meeting with him. The two heads of state reviewed the development achievements of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Afghanistan, and spoke highly of the continuous and in-depth development of China-Afghanistan relations. The two sides issued a joint statement on deepening China-Arab comprehensive strategic partnership, and signed a series of cooperation documents such as a memorandum of understanding on jointly building the Belt and Road.
