Italian oil and gas company Enel has struck a deal with engineering firm Comal to build a factory for the production of solar trackers at the Montaltodi Castro power plant in Italy. Comal's Tracker Sun Hunter plant will have the capacity to manufacture enough trackers to support the generation of nearly 1GW of solar energy per year.
The facility, which will span 30,000 square meters, is expected to create 70 jobs in the area when completed. Preparations for the site will begin in early 2022. "We are very proud of our cooperation with Enel, one of the main players in the Italian energy transition," said Alfredo Balletti, CEO of Comal. "Thanks to this agreement, the Montalto di Castro power station will be able to experience a new This benefit will also fall in the region due to the creation of a large number of new direct and indirect jobs during the industrial season. "Solar trackers allow photovoltaic panels to position themselves and follow the sun throughout the day.
The Montaltodi Castro power station is no longer in use and its decommissioned oil-fired units are currently being dismantled. The solar tracker factory is part of Enel's plans to develop a site that is no longer in use. The company also plans to build a 10-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant on a 20-hectare site within the abandoned complex, and install 245 megawatts worth of energy storage elsewhere on the site. It has launched the authorization process for both programs. Keywords: engineering news, engineering construction
"The agreement with Comal and the new development of the Montaltodi Castro site concretely demonstrate the positive impact of the energy transition on businesses, regions and countries," said Luca Solfaroli Camillocci. In November 2021, Enel announced plans to invest $190 billion by 2030 in Funding for its renewable energy and network businesses.Editor/XingWentao
