Work is now progressing on nine key projects that will form a new water delivery network in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. During the visit, Mohammad Saleh was accompanied by Anas Al Kassem representing Stantec, the consultant responsible for system design and supervision. These UAE are experiencing rapid population growth and several new commercial and industrial mega-projects have been planned, which will require significant water infrastructure. In response, Etihad WE is building water production and delivery infrastructure to meet their short, medium and long term needs. The water is produced by the new desalination plant in Umm Al Quwain.
Etihad Water and Electricity Director General Mohammad Mohammad Saleh, accompanied by Water Authority Executive Director Aref Ahmed Behama and officials, toured the new water distribution centre in Ras Al Khaimah to Follow up on project progress. The projects, with a capital investment of $816 million, include 336 kilometers of pipelines, four pumping stations and 22 water storage tanks.
During the visit, Mohamed Mohammed Saleh confirmed that Etihad Hydro is currently working with its strategic partners to implement a number of projects in line with the UAE's 2036 Water Security Strategy, which aims to ensure sustainability and under all conditions continuous access to water.
