On March 15, 2022, plans for a road link project between the Senegalese capital Dakar and St. Louis were announced, with funding now available to help pay for Senegal's planned road development. The United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is providing a $270 million financing package for this important work in Senegal.

Funds will be used to improve the 41km section linking Luga and Ganden. The section, which is part of a route connecting the Senegalese capital Dakar and St. Louis, is scheduled to undergo upgrading works.

The Dakar-Saint-Louis road upgrade project is divided into two parts. Work on the 114km section between Tivaouane Peulh and Lompoul will begin in mid-2022 and is expected to cost around $421.8 million. The improved route will also help promote Senegal's international links with its neighbours.Editor/XingWentao
