Lilama announced the $940 million engineering, procurement and construction transaction. It will involve the construction of two 750-megawatt power plants at existing sites in the southern province of Dong Nai.

Whether it will become Vietnam's first LNG plant depends on the progress of a larger plant in Long An province east of Ho Chi Minh city. Partners at the Nhon Trach plant signed an agreement with Petro Vietnam Power, a subsidiary of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, and the state-owned company is also building an LNG import terminal in the nearby coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The terminal, also built by Samsung, will supply liquefied gas to the new Dong Nai plants, which are expected to generate electricity for commercial and industrial centers in southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai provinces.Editor/XingWentao
