Dongfang Cable (NBO) has been awarded a EUR 240 million contract by Guangdong Energy to develop a 1 GW offshore wind power project in Yangjiang, Guangdong province, China. The EPCI contract includes the supply, engineering, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of two 60-kilometer 500kV three-core export cables.
According to the company, the project marks the world's first commercial application of a 500kV HVAC subsea cable for an offshore wind farm. "This is another important milestone for Dongfang Cable in high-end EHVAC power transmission technology following the successful delivery of China's State Grid 500kV1x1800mm2 submarine cable project and 500kV HVAC interconnection project in 2019," Dongfang Cable said.
The company has not named the project specifically, but according to previously published information, Guangdong Energy is developing a 1 GW offshore wind project in Yangjiang through Guangdong Power Development. The project is located in the offshore deep water area of Guangdong Province and is constructed in two phases: the 600 MW Yudean Yangjiang Qingzhou Phase I and the 400 MW Yudean Yangjiang Qingzhou Phase II.
According to Mingyang Smart Energy, after the two wind farms are fully put into operation in 2023, they will provide 3.6 TWh of clean electricity each year, which can save 1.05 million tons of coal consumption and 2.78 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. watt wind turbines are already in use. selected this item.
