On March 26, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Khadgar of Nepal in Kathmandu.
Wang Yi stressed that no matter how the international and domestic situations of the two countries change, China will follow the direction set by the leaders of the two countries, unswervingly implement the friendly policy towards Nepal, unswervingly deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and unswervingly advance Building a community of shared future between China and Nepal.
Wang Yi expounded on China's three supports for Nepal.
The first is to support Nepal in finding a development path that suits its own national conditions. China's friendly policy is open to all parties and people in Nepal. China supports all parties and factions in Nepal, proceeding from the fundamental and long-term interests of the Nepalese people, to be inclusive, consultative, united and collaborative, and jointly explore a governance model that is conducive to maintaining political stability, promoting economic growth and improving people's livelihood. On the premise of respecting the will of the Nepalese side, China is willing to strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance and administration with the Nepalese side.
The second is to support Nepal in pursuing independent domestic and foreign policies. China always maintains that all countries, big or small, are equal and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries. China believes that Nepalese affairs should be decided by the Nepalese people themselves. China opposes attempts to undermine Nepal's sovereignty and independence, interfere in Nepal's internal affairs, and engage in geopolitical games in Nepal. Nepal should become a highland for China's cooperation with South Asia. China is happy to see Nepal live in friendly relations with other countries and play a greater role in regional and international affairs.
The third is to support Nepal to participate more deeply in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. In the past few years, the two countries have made gratifying progress in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", which strongly supports Nepal's national construction. The Chinese side is willing to speed up the promotion of key cooperation projects between the two sides, ensure the smooth flow of land ports between the two countries, explore the development of cross-border power cooperation, enrich and expand the channels for economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and build a trans-Himalayan three-dimensional interconnection network, so as to make the Himalayas a link of friendly cooperation between the two countries. . He is willing to help Nepal give full play to its three advantages of human resources, geographical location and natural ecology, share China's opportunities, and speed up its own development and revitalization.
