The project mainly invests in the manufacturing and research and development of core products such as new energy batteries and related supporting industries. It is constructed in two phases. The first phase has an annual output of 15GWh of power batteries with a total investment of 7.5 billion yuan. It will be completed and put into production in May 2022; the second-phase project signed this time has an annual production capacity of 15GWh according to previous disclosures.

In addition, on April 1, BYD signed an investment cooperation agreement with Guiyang City. The two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in new power battery industry projects, PACK factory production lines, etc. Other information has not been announced for the time being.

It is reported that in 2021, BYD will expand 8 production bases through acquisitions, reconstructions, and additions, adding a total of about 205GWh of new production capacity. Entering 2022, BYD has accelerated the construction of the power battery project and accelerated the ramp-up of production capacity. The construction of power battery production bases with an investment of over 10 billion yuan in Xiangyang and Changchun has started.

At present, BYD's planned battery production capacity has exceeded 400GWh. Industry insiders predict that BYD's power battery production capacity may exceed 70GWh this year.

On the market side, since the beginning of last year, rumors about BYD's external supply have not stopped. According to rumors, Fudi Battery has won the designation of new project development from more than 30 external OEM customers (including commercial vehicles), including Tesla, Toyota and other international car companies.

Recently, it is rumored that BYD's power battery business, Fudi Battery, is actively exploring the market in the domestic new car camp, including NIO and Xiaomi.
