Chinese energy company Yuanjing Group assists Laos 600MW wind power project

Chinese energy company Envision Group has signed a letter of intent with Impact Energy Asia Development (IEAD) to supply wind turbines for a monsoon wind energy project in Laos. The company plans to deliver 133 EN-171 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.51MW, for the 600MW project.

Nat Hutanuwatr, Managing Director of IEAD, said: “We are developing the first and largest cross-border wind farm in Southeast Asia at very competitive electricity prices, and we are delighted to welcome Envision to our exciting journey to zero emissions.” Envision is responsible for the proposed The state-of-the-art technology offered by Wind Turbine Solutions and its track record of successful execution will be a key enabler for the project to achieve its goals reliably and economically. Construction work on the monsoon wind project is expected to begin in 2022, with the wind farm to begin commercial production in 2025. IEAD is developing the project and, once fully operational, will provide more than 1,700GWh of green energy per year. In 2021, the company signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Vietnam's state-owned energy company, Vietnam Electricity Company.

The electricity generated by Monsoon Wind will be delivered to central Vietnam through a dedicated 500kV transmission line. IEAD is also linked to the development of another wind farm, the Xekong Wind Project, located next to the Monsoon project. The company's subsidiary, ImpactElectrons Siam (IES), recently acquired the exclusive rights to conduct a feasibility study and preliminary environmental impact assessment for the Xekong project.
