On April 9, 2022, the "First China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference" will be held online and offline. The main venue of the conference is located in Beijing. The theme of the conference is "Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning to Promote the Building of a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future in the New Era". Promote the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future and a community with a shared future for mankind to contribute wisdom and strength.

The conference was held to coincide with the third anniversary of the establishment of the China-Africa Research Institute. At the opening ceremony of the conference, Zhao Qi, Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and member of the Party Group, and Rahmantara Osman, Permanent Representative of the African Union Representative Office in China, delivered speeches. Wang Lei, director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Zhao Qi pointed out that since its establishment, the China-Africa Research Institute has given full play to its functions as an exchange platform, research base, talent highland, and dissemination window. The three major China-Africa exchange mechanisms for sustainable development and joint construction of the Belt and Road have been solidly advanced and have achieved remarkable results, which have been highly praised by all sectors of China and Africa. The first "China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference" was successfully held. The China-Africa Research Institute has built a new platform for China-Africa people-to-people and cultural exchanges, which is of great significance to promoting the deepening and practical exchanges between Chinese and African civilizations. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will, as always, be committed to deepening academic and think-tank exchanges with African countries, support the China-Africa Research Institute to hold the China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference well, deepen the exchanges and integration of Chinese and African civilizations, and build a solid foundation of public opinion for China-Africa friendship. The China-Africa community with a shared future and the community with a shared future for mankind contribute wisdom and strength.

In his speech, Osman said that the current global problems have become more prominent, and the development of various regions is facing enormous challenges. At the same time, the rapid development of informatization, networking, and digital technology, the importance of the right to speak of civilization is constantly increasing, and the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations has become the key to human development. Important foundation and approach, the first China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference was held at the right time. In terms of promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Africa, the AU Representative Office in China has maintained a long-term close cooperative relationship with the China-Africa Research Institute, and actively supported the holding of the "Three Forums" and the development of China-Africa joint academic research, which is the most important part of China-Africa research. The revival of ancient civilizations and mutual learning among civilizations provide lasting help. This conference is a vivid manifestation of the China African Institute and the African Union's fulfillment of their mission, which is in line with the wishes of both China and Africa, and is conducive to Chinese and African scholars to strengthen cooperation and jointly offer advice and suggestions for the development of Africa.

There are four sub-topics in the conference, namely, "Civilization Exchange and the Spirit of China-Africa Friendship and Cooperation", "Mutual Learning between Civilizations and the Belt and Road", "Civilization Diversity and the History of China-Africa Civilizations", and "Civilization Inheritance and Youth Responsibilities". Nearly 40 experts and scholars, youth representatives, business people and African diplomats in China made speeches and comments.

At the closing ceremony, Zhou Yunfan, Vice President of the China-Africa Research Institute, read out the Declaration of the First Conference on Dialogue of China-Africa Civilizations. Wang Xiaoming, Vice President of the China African Research Institute, announced the launch of the "China African Studies Youth Forum" project.

Zhang Yuyan, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, deputy director of the Department of International Studies, and director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, delivered a closing speech. He pointed out that the speeches of Chinese and African experts and scholars and the results of this conference fully demonstrate that mutual learning between civilizations is the common perception and will of China and African countries, and an important way to promote the sustainable development of China-Africa cooperation and build a community with a shared future for mankind. In a special period when China-Africa cooperation has entered a new era of deepening development and mankind is facing non-traditional security challenges such as the new crown epidemic, the convening of the first China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference has special academic and practical significance.
