On April 12, 2022, Hanoi City, Vietnam released the "1/10,000 Plan for the Overall Planning of the Urban Underground Building Space in the City of Hanoi in 2030 and the Outlook to 2050". Nguyen Duc Nye, deputy director of the Hanoi City Planning and Construction Department, said Hanoi plans to add six new projects. The existing Metro Lines 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8 have a total length of about 86.5 kilometers and an average depth of about 20 meters.

At the same time, Hanoi will also build 78 underground public parking lots, mainly in four old quarters. The underground parking lot project is designed to be 3-4 floors underground (5 floors underground, combined with the underground commercial street)

Specifically, the master plan identifies 39 underground public space development areas (historical and expanded) in the city center, with a total area of about 954 hectares; at the same time, the underground area is planned to connect services, commerce, entertainment, urban rail transit and buses station, garage, etc. In addition, the plan also proposes to form 65 underground spaces in the new development zone in the north and south of the Honghe River, with a total area of about 2,171 hectares.

Yang Duc Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that the approved plan is the basis for the implementation of specific plans and investment projects, contributing to the construction of a modern and civilized capital; at the same time, the plan will also help to create more underground space for the city center. urban development space.
