On May 2, 2022, under the active coordination of Yantai Development and Reform Commission and Zhifu District Government, "China Power Investment Nuclear Power Co., Ltd." completed the industrial and commercial change registration procedures involved in relocating from Beijing to Yantai, and successfully obtained a new version of the business license, marking the state power investment nuclear power company. Headquarters officially settled in Yantai.

This is a major achievement of Yantai's promotion of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, an important milestone for Yantai to build a "nuclear power city", and a key implementation project of the clean energy industry chain, one of the 16 key industry chains.

CPI Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (the registered entity name of SPIC Nuclear Energy Headquarters) was established on December 08, 2004 with a registered capital of 2,285,253,185,616 yuan.

In September 2021, the headquarters of State Power Investment Corporation signed the "Deepening Strategic Cooperation Agreement" with Shandong Province, and in October, State Power Investment Corporation and the People's Government of Yantai City signed the "Carbon Peak, Carbon Neutral" Comprehensive Cooperation and Project Investment Development Agreement", it was decided to move the nuclear energy headquarters of SPIC to Yantai, Shandong; on December 30, 2021, Li Ganjie, secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, and Qian Zhimin, chairman of SPIC, personally inaugurated the establishment of the SPIC Nuclear Energy Headquarters Base in Yantai.
