Recently, the reporter walked into the construction site of the S43 Hohhot New Airport Expressway for a field visit. It is understood that the intersection of the west side of Yuquan District Wetland Park and Wuhai Street is the starting point of the new airport expressway. Large-scale machinery shuttles, and workers are working intensively. The construction of the new airport expressway started on April 7. The main project is a viaduct. The volume of cement and concrete is very large, reaching 2.4 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to the amount of concrete used by 7 National Grand Theaters.

At present, there are nearly 4,300 management and construction personnel and 67 rotary drilling rigs on the whole line. In order to ensure that the project is completed as planned, since the start of construction, the workers have entered the mode of white plus black and five plus two shifts, and the construction has been carried out in a safe and orderly manner.

New Airport Expressway

Fu Erquan, deputy manager of Inner Mongolia Hohhot New Airport Expressway Management Co., Ltd., introduced that the reinforcement of the box girder is currently being bound, and the construction of more than 4,300 pile foundations and more than 80 bearing platforms has been completed. The total length of the new airport expressway is 29.43 kilometers. It passes through the Third Ring Expressway under construction, Daheihe River, Ring Expressway, Nanshuangshu Village, Shilawusu River, and Shaerqin Industrial Park, and ends at the south side of the airport interchange. The route adopts the standard of a two-way 8-lane expressway with a design speed of 120km/h. There are 4 interchanges at the Third Ring Road, Shibugeng, Shaerqin and the airport.

Fu Erquan said that the total investment of the project is 9.916 billion yuan. Combined with the construction progress of Hohhot's new airport, the S43 Hohhot Airport Expressway is planned to be completed by the end of 2024 and is ready for traffic. It is understood that the S43 Hohhot Airport Expressway is connected with the completed G6, G7, G5901, G59, S31 and other expressways through the urban expressway, as well as the S29 Huliang Expressway under construction, and the planned S27 Hohhot Expressway and Huqing Expressway. High-grade highways are connected to further optimize the structure of the expressway network in our district, and effectively radiate the surrounding cities to quickly reach the new airport.
