Vietnamese clean energy company TGS Green Hydrogen will start building a green hydrogen plant in Ben Tre province in June 2022. The $840 million project, the first of its kind in the country, is expected to begin commissioning as early as the first quarter of 2023. The plant has an annual capacity of 24,000 tons of hydrogen, 150,000 tons of ammonia and 19,000 tons of oxygen.
The initiative comes two months after TGS engineers Black & Veatch signed an agreement in principle to work on the hydrogen project. The Kansas company is also working to build what is expected to be the world's largest hydrogen center, developed by Mitsubishi in Utah.
At the time, TGS founder and CEO Winnie Huynh commented: "Green Solutions is committed to applying state-of-the-art technology in Vietnam's renewable energy sector. Partnering with Black & Veatch will allow us to adapt the best global technology to Asian requirements. practice and contribute to a zero-carbon future for the region." Vietnam has been criticized for building coal-fired power stations to deal with a looming energy crunch. It is estimated that the country's rapid industrialization will require it to double its installed capacity by 2030. It currently produces around 76GW, slightly more than the UK. The country pledged to be carbon neutral by 2050 at the UN climate conference in Glasgow in November 2021.Editor/XingWentao
