China has newly built a 300-kilometer green corridor in the Taklimakan Desert. This natural barrier against wind and sand is located along the Heruo Railway, the last piece of the puzzle of the world's first railway around the desert.
The total length of the Heruo Railway is more than 800 kilometers, of which more than 500 kilometers of wind and sand are distributed. The concept of wind prevention and sand control was put forward at the early stage of the construction of the Heruo Railway. It is the first time in China that the sandstorm protection project is carried out simultaneously with the railway construction.

The sandstorm protection project is not as simple as planting plants. Reed sand barriers, reed squares and plants are called sand control three-piece sets, that is, reed sand barriers, reed squares, and trees and shrubs are set up on both sides of the railway from outside to inside. The green strip, the protection width ranges from 110 meters to more than 400 meters.
With the opening and operation of the Heruo Railway, as part of the world's first desert-circle railway, it will link the areas along the line that have been lifted out of poverty not long ago, such as Yutian, Celle, and Luopu, making travel more convenient for the masses, and not only rolling out the window of the car.
