On May 31, 2022, three agreements including capital increase, capital management, and investment compensation for the Liuheng Bridge, the landmark project of Yiyongzhou-Zhouda Channel, were officially signed. It is understood that this is the latest move in Zhejiang to accelerate the project promotion with extraordinary efforts and extraordinary measures since 2022, and give full play to the traction role of major transportation projects in expanding investment.

Liuheng Bridge

According to reports, Liuheng Bridge starts from Ganyan Village, southwest of Liuheng Island, Zhoushan. After passing through Fodu Island and Meishan Island, it finally ends at Beilun Chai Bridge in Ningbo. It connects with Chuanshan Shugang Expressway and connects to Hangzhou-Shaoyong Expressway. The investment is 17.65 billion yuan. Among them, the first phase of the project will start construction in 2021, and the second phase of the project is undergoing special application for approval such as construction drawing design and land use. The project is technically difficult to construct. It connects the two core port areas of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, Liuheng and Meishan. After completion, a new sea-crossing channel will be added, which will effectively promote the development of Liuheng, Fodu Port and Lingang Industrial Base. Amplify the bridge-island linkage effect.

The Liuheng Bridge has a prominent function of dredging the port, and container vehicles account for 83.6% of the traffic volume predicted by Gongke Report. After completion, the bridge-island linkage will be significant, which will effectively promote the development of Liuheng and Fodu port areas. At the same time, the development of the port area will drive the increase in the traffic volume of the project. At the same time, the construction of Liuheng Bridge is technically difficult. The project includes two sea-crossing bridges, of which the Shuangyumen Bridge has a main span of 1,768 meters, which is the third longest single-span suspension bridge in the world; the Qinglongmen Bridge has two spans of 756 meters, and is the world's largest three-tower cable-stayed bridge.
