The Ministry of Transport of the Sultanate of Oman has signed two agreements on highway projects with a total value of $ 428.6 million. The agreements were signed by Hans Erlings, Minister of Transport and CEO of Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company, and Dr. Rajesh Gopalakrishan, Director of Road Division of Ghantoot Transport and Contracting Company, Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Futaisi.

As part of the expansion project, third and fourth lanes will be added to Bibid's Rusayl Road, which will extend the road from the Muscat Expressway junction to the East junction with a total length of 27 kilometers. The project will cost $ 224.1 million and the implementation period is 30 months. Through this project, the road capacity of 3000 vehicles per hour during the current peak hours will be increased to 8030 vehicles per hour in the next 20 years.

According to the Omani news agency, the project was designed with traffic safety requirements in mind. Two lanes were added to the existing road in both directions to accommodate a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Two new intersections have been added in the Ghala and Al-Seih Al-Ahmar areas, and the Ghala intersection will be connected to the Ansab-Al-Jafin highway. In addition, three intersections have also been improved. In addition, the three existing bridges were upgraded and expanded, including Wadi Jaffnain Bridge, Wadi Vanya Bridge and Wadi Dabaoyun Bridge.

The second agreement is worth US $ 205.1 million and will be implemented for 36 months. The project aims to establish connecting roads and bridges at the main roundabout of the existing Al Batinah Road. The project also includes the construction of a road linking the Khazaen Economic Zone and the Al-Batinah Highway, with a total length of 14 kilometers.

In addition, a bridge is constructed at the main roundabout of the Al-Batinah Road and a single road connecting the Al-Batinah Road and the Al-Musanna Road, with a total length of 22.75 kilometers. In addition, it also includes a double road connecting the intersection of Al Batinah Road of the Suhar Bridge, with a total length of about 9.2 kilometers.
