On June 2, 2022, the installation of the E16 pipe section of the Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel and Guangming Road Extension Project undertaken by CCCC First Navigation Bureau was completed.
The E16 pipe section and the installed E15 pipe section are both full-curve pipe sections. The axis of the immersed pipe is 148 meters long, 33.4 meters wide, 9.7 meters high, and weighs about 47,000 tons. The depth of the sinking position is about 27 meters.
The floating installation work was officially started at 6:00 on the same day. After completing the tugboat formation, floating, mooring, sinking, pulling, hydraulic crimping and other procedures, the docking with the E15 pipe section was successfully completed at 19:50 on the same day. It takes about 14 hours.
The Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel is the first large-scale cross-sea immersed tunnel project in northern China. It is also another cross-sea traffic project with complex technical conditions and high environmental protection requirements after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The bureau has undertaken the core immersed tube installation of the three major sea-crossing immersed tube tunnels in China.Editor/Ma Xue
