Indonesian company WaskitaKarya will execute a major road contract in South Sudan. The project is valued at $1.43 billion and the engineering package was awarded by the government of South Sudan.
The plan is to build a new road with a total length of 1,000 kilometers. The project is divided into four parts, each about 250 kilometers long. Construction work will begin in mid-2022.
Concrete elements for the project will be supplied by WaskitaKarya's specialist subsidiary WaskitaBetonPrecast in a deal valued at $243.4 million. The project will help develop South Sudan's economy and will improve links with neighbouring countries such as Kenya and Uganda, as well as other East African countries.Editor/XingWentao
