Liberia's President George Weah laid the groundwork for the highway project, and the expansion and reconstruction of the Roberts International Airport highway has begun. Public works officials estimate that the 45-km highway project will cost about $ 95 million and is expected to transform the current two-lane highway from ELWA to RIA into a modern four-lane major highway.
According to President Weah, the RIA Expressway is the most convenient way to travel to and from 6 of Liberia's 15 counties, including Maggie, Grand Barca, Seth River, Sino, Grand Crewe, and Maryland route. "Some of these counties are home to many multinational companies, such as flint and gold linoleum," he said.
He further commented: "Road connectivity is a core pillar of its government and a function of the" Agenda for Prosperity and Development. "My government's infrastructure development plan has received strong support from international development partners, and I want to thank these partners for their support, And assure them that the resources at their disposal are used for their intended purpose. "
According to Mr. Mobutu Nyenpan, Minister of Public Works, the financing of the project was initiated and closed by President Weah's government. He said the initial funding was provided through negotiations by the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank and also from private sector capital.
When completed, the RIA road will be transformed into an ultra-modern four-lane highway with all necessary lighting and road safety facilities and functions. Editor / Zhao Yongjing
