On June 28, 2022, the second phase of the CNNC Sanmen nuclear power project, a major national energy project, was officially started. The second phase of the project will build two million-kilowatt nuclear power units, with an annual power generation capacity of 20 billion kWh after completion.

Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is located in Sanmen County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It plans to build six million kilowatt advanced pressurized water reactor nuclear power units, which will be constructed in three phases. The first phase of the project, Units 1 and 2, will be connected to the grid for commercial operation in 2018. The annual power generation capacity is 19.98 billion kWh, and the accumulated safe power generation has exceeded 60 billion kWh.
