On July 8, 2022, the world's largest hydro-solar hybrid power station Yalongjiang Kela photovoltaic power station started construction in Yajiang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. After the completion of the project, the scale of the global water-solar complementation project has been increased to one million kilowatts for the first time, which has a leading role in serving my country's dual carbon goals, optimizing the national energy structure, and helping to build a green, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.

As the third largest hydropower base in my country, the Yalong River Basin Clean Energy Base was the first hydro-solar power station to be constructed during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The Kela photovoltaic power station is located in Kela Township, Yajiang County, with an altitude of 4,000 to 4,600 meters. The installed capacity is 1 million kilowatts, the annual utilization hours are 1735 hours, and the annual average power generation is 2 billion kilowatt hours. It is planned to be connected to the grid at full capacity in 2023. generate electricity. The projects are distributed in the western Sichuan plateau between 4,000 meters and 4,600 meters above sea level, with a total investment of over 5.3 billion yuan. The Kela photovoltaic power station is connected to the Lianghekou hydropower station, which has just been fully connected to the grid in March 2022, through a 500 kV transmission line to achieve water-solar complementarity. It is planned to connect to the grid at full capacity in 2023.

Kola photovoltaic power station renderings

The Yalong River Lianghekou Hydropower Station has an installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts and a total storage capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters. It has the characteristics of multi-year regulation and can stabilize the volatility and randomness of photovoltaic power generation. In Ganzi Prefecture, where the Kela photovoltaic power station is located, there are seasonal differences in photovoltaic power generation output, which forms a natural year-round complement to the characteristics of hydropower generation in the wet season in summer and the dry season in winter. Kola PV is connected to the Lianghekou Hydropower Station. After the water and light are bundled, it can output stable power, which can be sent out for consumption in a centralized manner.
