Recently, the erection of Songnen Super Bridge, the first super bridge of the first phase of the Sino-Thai railway cooperation project, has been completed.

The first phase of the China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project is 252.3 kilometers in length from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, and is designed according to Chinese railway technical standards. The consortium consisting of China Railway International Co., Ltd. and China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the project's detailed design, construction drawing review, supervision, and general contracting of tracks, four electrics, vehicles and training.

The Songnen Bridge completed this time has a total length of 4.192 kilometers and a total of 131 beams. Based on the local conditions of Thailand and the status quo of construction technology, CRCC has adopted the segmental prefabricated assembly method for the design and construction of the simply supported box girder for the entire line, which is the first time among railways of the same standard. The Xiaomanyao bridge pier designed by the design team combined with the local modeling style of Thailand. While meeting the design indicators required by the code, the size and slope rate of the bridge pier were optimized to adapt to the local lightweight architectural style in Thailand.

The CRCC project team has overcome various difficulties such as the epidemic, has completed the detailed design of the civil engineering, and is going all out to promote the project construction. At present, the first phase of the Sino-Thai railway cooperation project has entered the comprehensive construction stage.

The China-Thailand railway cooperation project is a flagship project for the two sides to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative and carry out production capacity cooperation, which will effectively improve the level of infrastructure construction and connectivity in Thailand and the region. The project is an important passage connecting the capital Bangkok and the northeastern region of Thailand, and an important part of the Trans-Asian Railway. After the completion of the China-Thailand railway cooperation project, it will be connected with the China-Laos railway, promote economic and trade exchanges and personnel exchanges among countries along the line, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and effectively improve the level of infrastructure construction and connectivity in Thailand and the region.  Editor/Zhao E
