Samsung Engineering has won a US$680 million contract from Shell's subsidiary Sarawak Shell Bhd for the construction of an onshore gas plant linked to the Rosmari Marjoram project in Malaysia.
The plant, located in Bintulu, Sarawak, will be carried out in two phases. The first involves limited projects pending the SSB's final investment decision for the Rosmari Marjoram project. The remaining projects of the factory will be carried out after the FID is made by SSB. The onshore gas plant will be designed to process up to 800 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Samsung Engineering will execute the project on an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning basis. Start-up preparations for the project are expected to be achieved by the end of 2025, the company said. Samsung Engineering won the contract after winning a bidding round for the dual front-end engineering and design contract.
Sungan Choi, president and CEO of Samsung Engineering, said the track record, regional expertise and sustainable investment in Sarawak, coupled with our strategy of engaging and transitioning from the FEED stage to execute the EPCC total solution, proved to be the right strategy , so Shell entrusted us with their OGP project in Sarawak. We are delighted and honoured to provide Shell with a modern, advanced and premium onshore gas plant in Sarawak. Keywords: engineering news, overseas news
