The Wuxi-Yixing Expressway Expansion Project will initially implement a section of about 36 kilometers from Xueyan Junction to Xiwu Junction. The preliminary design has been approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and the relocation of houses within the main line of the Yixing section has been basically completed, and the construction drawing design is being advanced. At the same time, speed up the preliminary work of the section from Wuxi North Hub to Xueyan Hub, and actively implement relevant construction conditions.

The route of the expansion section starts from the north side of Xueyan Junction, which intersects with Suxi-Changnan Expressway, Wujin District and Yixing City, Changzhou City, and ends at Xiwu Junction, which intersects with Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway. The whole line is expanded according to the standard of two-way eight-lane expressway, and adopts the overall expansion plan of widening along both sides of the original road. The width of the roadbed is 42 meters and the design speed is 120 kilometers per hour.

The expansion of the project is of great significance for improving the service capacity of the expressway network, ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the road network, strengthening the connection between Wuxi, Changzhou and Yixing, and promoting the regional integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the development of the Suzhou-Six-Changzhou metropolitan area.

The Wuxi-Taicang Expressway project has a total length of about 50 kilometers, of which the Wuxi section is 31.7 kilometers. At present, the preliminary design is being carried out, and the pipeline relocation and greening relocation are simultaneously promoted.

After the project is completed, it will become one of the main roads in southern Jiangsu, which will greatly relieve the traffic pressure on the Shanghai-Nanjing expressway, and at the same time make the connection between Wuxi and Suzhou smoother, and will promote the formation of a new urban development convergence axis and a new transportation corridor.

In July 2022, the preliminary design of the Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel South Link Project was approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, which is another major progress after the approval of the project feasibility study in January 2022, laying a solid foundation for the start of construction within the year .

The south connection of Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is an important supporting project of the Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel currently under construction. It starts from Jiangyin Furong Avenue, connects with Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel, and uses the planned corridor from the starting point to the Nanyun section, ending at the intersection with Huwu Expressway. It is connected to Xuxiake Avenue, with a total length of 11.405 kilometers. The whole line adopts the construction standard of two-way six-lane expressway, the total width of the roadbed is 33.5 meters, and the design speed is 100 kilometers per hour.

After the project is completed, it will greatly ease the traffic pressure of Jiangyin Bridge and relieve congestion. At the same time, it is of great significance to implement the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, improve the regional expressway network, promote the cross-river integration of the Xichangtai group and the integrated development of Chengjing.
