Construction works for a large North-South expressway project in Vietnam have been approved. The 12 separate road sections will be completed by 2025, after approval by Vietnam's Ministry of Transport. Construction of the 12 expressways is expected to cost $6.3 billion and have a total length of 724 kilometers. The longest of the 12 sections will be the 352-kilometer section connecting Quang Ngai and Nha Trang, the 261-kilometer section between Ha Tinh and Quang Tri, and the 111-kilometer section connecting Can Tho and Ca Mau.
Meanwhile, a budget of over US$342 million has been set for the first phase of the Dayi Bridge project in the Mekong Delta region. Construction will begin in 2022 and completion is expected in 2026. The new link will consist of two bridges that will connect Soc Trang and Tra Vinh provinces.
The new bridge is a cable-stayed design and will be constructed in two phases, providing two lanes in either direction once the works are complete. The completion of the two bridges on National Highway 60 will shorten the travel time for drivers between Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces and reduce congestion on National Highway 1.Editor/XingWentao
