On August 16, 2022, under the high temperature of more than 40 degrees Celsius, on-site construction personnel completed the formation of the last base iron tower on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Zongyang County, Tongling City, Anhui Province, marking the key project of West-East Power Transmission from Baihetan-Zhejiang ± The 800 kV UHVDC transmission project in Anhui section of the Yangtze River spanning towers has been completed.
According to Li Yanjun, project manager of Anhui Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Co., Ltd., the Yangtze River spanning tower is 345 meters high and weighs 5,107 tons. The Yangtze River Crossing is the "throat" project of the Baihetan-Zhejiang UHV project. New technologies such as inclined-inserted steel pipes and steel-filled steel pipes are used.
Baihetan-Zhejiang UHV DC transmission project passes through 5 provinces and cities of Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui and Zhejiang, with a total length of 2140.2 kilometers. After the project is put into operation, the annual power transmission capacity will exceed 30 billion kWh, which can replace 8,000 MW of coal power installed capacity, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 19 million tons, effectively improve the energy structure, and increase the proportion of clean energy.Editor/Ma Xue
