In a desert about 50 kilometers east of Cairo, the capital of Egypt in northern Africa, under the scorching sun, towering buildings loomed in the rising yellow sand. From a distance, they looked like mirages in the vast desert.

"Before 2019, it was all desert and we built 20 high-rise buildings in less than four years. I am very proud to be part of this project," said Walid Ramadan.

Ramadan is an Egyptian technical engineer for the Central Business District project of Egypt's new administrative capital. This project covers a total area of about 505,000 square meters, including 20 high-rise building units and supporting municipal works, and was constructed by CSCEC Egypt Branch.

"Working on the Sign Tower project has taught me many advanced techniques for building skyscrapers in the desert," Ramadan said.

The sign tower construction team applied climbing formwork technology to complete the construction of one floor every 4 days. Ultra-high pressure pumping technology delivers concrete to heights of more than 500 meters. The external-mounted boom tower crane can lift various construction materials to the top of the sign tower. Chen Baihong, the Chinese technical engineer of the landmark tower project, said: "During the construction of the tower, we have passed on these technologies to Egyptian colleagues and formed a deep friendship with foreign teachers and students."

"During the construction of the project, we hired a large number of Egyptian workers and used local products in large quantities, which directly or indirectly led to the employment of more than 30,000 people and the development of the Egyptian construction industry. After the end of the project at the end of 2023, the skilled workers trained by this project and Local engineers will continue to play a greater role in the construction of Egypt," Chang Weicai said.Editor/Ma Xue
