Tongwei won a bid to supply 3 gigawatts of solar modules to state-owned China Resources Power. It has agreed to offer 2.9 GW of 545-watt modules and 1 GW of 545-watt single panels for 5.827 billion yuan, or around 1.94 yuan per watt. Tongwei Li pressed Yijing Photovoltaic and LONGi to obtain the order. If it goes according to plan, this will be the largest order in the group's history.
Canadian Solar said its second-quarter sales revenue rose 61.8% year over year to $2.3 billion. Profit attributable to shareholders increased to US$74.46 million, and total PV module shipments were 5.06 GW, up 37% year-on-year. The company said it expects its module shipments to reach 6 GW to 6.2 GW in the third quarter. It also raised its annual revenue forecast to $7.5 billion to $8 billion, and expects full-year module shipments of 20 GW to 22 GW.
Productive Technologies said it has secured a supply order for wafer texturing equipment from an undisclosed customer whose controlling shareholder is one of the world's top solar technology companies. It said it would provide equipment to roughen the texture of the wafers to improve their light-harvesting performance. The order signed earlier this month builds on another deal to supply five sets of solar cell equipment from other unnamed customers.
GCL New Energy intends to consolidate each of its 20 shares into consolidated shares, which must be approved by a special general meeting of shareholders. The rules of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange state that shares need to be consolidated if the share price falls below $0.013.
