On August 24, 2022, the groundbreaking ceremony of the third phase of Dongguan City Rail Transit Line 2 was held.

Phase III Project of Rail Transit Line 2

It is understood that on June 22, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility study report of the third phase of Dongguan City Rail Transit Line 2. According to the approval, the third phase of Line 2 starts from Humen Railway Station (excluding) in the north and ends at Jiaoyiwan Station in the south. The total length of the line is 17.3 kilometers, of which the underground section is 16.85 kilometers, the elevated section is 0.25 kilometers, and the transition section is 0.20 kilometers. There are 9 stations, including Humen Avenue Station, Humen Jinjie Road Station, Humen Guangming Road Station, Binhai Bay Station, Qingchuangcheng Station, Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal, Jiaoyiwan West Station, and Jiaoyiwan Station, all of which are underground stations; One bay parking lot and one Binhai Bay main substation are dispatched by the existing urban rail transit network control center in Dongguan.

The total investment of the third-phase project of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 is 14.693 billion yuan, with a total construction period of 54 months. It is expected to be put into trial operation in March 2027.

With the construction of the third phase of Line 2, it will accelerate the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promote the integrated development of Shenzhen and Dongguan, and guide the rational layout of urban space. Editor/He Yuting
