In Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters building project that China helped build is progressing rapidly. As the main body of the building becomes more and more complete, the local people are full of expectations for the improvement of the public health system in Africa.

The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention Headquarters Building project was undertaken by China Civil Engineering Group and started construction in December 2020, with a total construction area of 23,500 square meters, including office buildings, laboratory buildings and other facilities.

African public health experts believe that since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention has played an undisputed leading role in the African continent's anti-epidemic process. After the center has built a modern office building, high-end laboratories and supporting facilities, it will make African public health systems are better.

Iribabur Boru, CEO of Ethiopia's Tirunesh-Beijing Hospital, said that the CDC built with China's help is of great importance to Africa, especially Ethiopia, and will become the largest public medical center in Africa in the future.

Monique Nsanzabaganwa, vice-chairman of the African Union Commission, said recently that the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters building project fully reflects the friendship between China and Africa, and looks forward to more cooperation between China and Africa in the field of public health in the future.Editor/Ma Xue
