Eight wind-solar hydrogen production projects in Inner Mongolia started

On August 28, 2022, the Inner Mongolia wind-solar hydrogen production integration demonstration project started in Ordos. According to reports, the concentrated start of the first batch of 8 demonstration projects marks the significant progress made by Inner Mongolia’s innovative model to promote new energy construction, and also marks that the high-quality development of Inner Mongolia’s hydrogen energy industry has entered the fast lane.

8 wind-solar hydrogen production integration demonstration projects, 5 in Ordos and 3 in Baotou. Eight projects have a total of 2.72 million kilowatts of new energy, including 770,000 kilowatts of wind power and 1.95 million kilowatts of photovoltaics. Currently, the construction of each project is accelerating.

Among them, the Narisong photovoltaic hydrogen production industry demonstration project in Zhunger Banner, Ordos City mainly adopts photovoltaic electrolysis water hydrogen production technology, and replaces the original fuel heavy trucks with hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks in chemical enterprises and mining areas as the main consumption scenarios for hydrogen energy. After that, the average annual power generation of photovoltaic stations was 743.6146 million kWh.

Taking hydrogen energy development as a new investment field, it is an ideal choice to invest and build a factory in Inner Mongolia. Inner Mongolia is an energy highland, with a potential new energy hydrogen production capacity of more than 3.3 million tons, and nearly 500,000 heavy-duty diesel vehicles and mining heavy-duty trucks and logistics vehicles in the autonomous region.

As a clean, efficient and safe secondary energy, hydrogen energy is a beneficial supplement to existing energy forms and an important part of the future national energy system. The vigorous development of wind-solar hydrogen production under the background of "dual carbon" is of great significance for Inner Mongolia to do a good job of modern energy economy, accelerate the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, and realize green and low-carbon transformation.

After the first batch of wind-solar-hydrogen integrated demonstration projects in Inner Mongolia are put into operation, they can produce 72,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, which will be widely used in heavy-duty truck fuel, chemical industry, biomedicine, and metallurgical raw materials. In the next step, Inner Mongolia will continue to build the second batch of wind-solar-hydrogen integrated demonstration projects to drive the development of the entire hydrogen energy industry chain and high-quality development in the region. By 2025, Inner Mongolia will initially form a leading domestic industrial cluster integrating hydrogen energy production, storage, transportation and application, and the output value of the hydrogen energy industry will reach 100 billion yuan, helping the transformation and upgrading of the autonomous region's energy industry.
