Chinese power battery manufacturer CATL signed a pre-purchase agreement in the eastern Hungarian city of Debrecen on the 5th, marking the official launch of CATL's Hungarian factory project.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economy Scijardo Peter said that the investment of CATL is one of the five largest greenfield investments in Europe in the past 10 years and the largest greenfield investment in Hungary's history, which is of great significance to Hungary.

Scijardo said that the Hungarian factory of CATL will create 9,000 new jobs. Hungary and China have benefited a lot from the pragmatic cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and no external influence.

Zeng Yuqun, chairman of CATL, said in his video speech that CATL's investment in Hungary is a big step for the company to improve its global strategic layout. CATL will be committed to contributing to the local community and the Hungarian electric vehicle industry.

Yang Chao, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, said in his speech that the Hungarian factory project of CATL will further consolidate Hungary's leading position in the automotive industry and have a positive demonstration effect on the cooperation between China and Hungary and China in the field of new energy. According to the plan, the Hungarian factory of CATL is located in the southern industrial park of Debrecen, covering an area of 221 hectares. The first factory will break ground this year.
