Saudi Water Cooperation is currently working on 11 projects worth $9.3 billion, scheduled to be completed in early 2023. SWPC CEO Khaled Alqureshi said on the sidelines of the Future of Desalination International Conference that the company has 33 projects in the pipeline, 11 of which are under development for market submission.
The company is currently building two water pipelines in Mecca province: Ras Mohaisan and Rabigh-4. The Ras Mohaisan project has a daily production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters, while the Rabigh-4 project has a daily production capacity of 600,000 cmpd. The last date to submit bids for Rabigh-4 is September 18, according to a company statement.
Some of the prequalified companies are ACWA Power, Spain's Acciona Agua and Ajlan & Brothers Energy Co. consortium and Spain's Cobra Instalacionesy Servicios. Others include a consortium between Japan's Marubeni, France's Veolia Middle East and UAE's Utico, Saudi Arabia's Mowah and China Railway Construction Corporation.
Other ongoing projects are Ras MohaisenIWP and Al-Juranah ISWR and Al-HaerISTP, Alqureshi said. This development also speaks volumes about the growing support for the industry from public investment funds. The sovereign fund has successfully contributed to SWPC's first three IWPP projects in the kingdom.
Saudi ministries and the national water company are collaborating on a plan to optimize and reduce water losses at different stages of water distribution. As the kingdom grows organically and some ambitious plans become available, SWPC is improving water needs, missions and building more capacity. We also shut down non-renewable groundwater to build more assets to produce water. Keywords: engineering news, overseas news
