Spanish grid operator REE reports that large-scale PV capacity in Spain has reached 17,142 MW. This means that solar has overtaken hydropower, which so far is in third place with 17,094 megawatts. But PV still lags behind wind with 29,512 MW and combined cycle plants with 26,250 MW.
The current total installed capacity in Spain is 115,957 MW. In percentage terms, photovoltaic power plants account for 14.78% of the country's total power generation.
Under Spain's self-consumption regime, there are around 2.5 GW of additional solar projects, mainly residential and C&I installations. This means that the country's total installed PV capacity, including large-scale projects, may have crossed the 20 GW mark.
At the beginning of September 2022, REE said that the total power generation of the country's photovoltaic systems in the first eight months of 2022 is about 21,000GWh, which has exceeded the 20,954GWh for the whole of 2021.Editor/XingWentao
