On September 16, 2022, the first tank of concrete was poured in the main building of the new construction project of the 2×700MW gas-steam combined cycle unit of Sichuan Investment Group Ziyang Gas Power Station, which was constructed by China Energy Guangdong Thermal Power and the Southwest Research Institute Consortium EPC, marking the project Officially started. The project is located in Yongshun Town, Anyue County, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province. It is a key construction project of Sichuan Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" energy development plan.

The project plans to build 4×700MW H-class gas-fired generating units, which will be constructed in two phases. This phase builds a 2×700MWH gas-steam combined cycle unit, which is the most advanced 9H high-efficiency gas turbine in the world.

The project adopts "low-nitrogen combustion technology + high-efficiency SCR denitration" technology, and the pollutant emission concentration is higher than the national standard. The project reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 55% per year compared with coal-fired power plants of the same scale, which is equivalent to planting 5 million trees. After the project is completed and put into operation as a whole, it is expected to generate 7 billion kWh of electricity annually, which will become the backbone of the peak-shaving power supply in Sichuan Power Grid.
